Rajasthan Ranji Trophy coach Jain was appointed by the BCCI as the head coach for North Zone for this prestigious tournament.Opting to bat, North Zone started on a high note with a steady 82-run opening partnership in 17.4 overs. West Zone staged a brief comeback, triggering a middle-order collapse that left North Zone struggling at 168 for 5 in 37.1 overs.The game shifted gears when Nikhil Kumar, later named both ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the tournament’, took charge. Nikhil played a blistering knock of 77 runs off just 44 balls, decorated with 4 towering sixes and 8 boundaries. Supported by useful contributions of 37 runs each from Kartik Sharma and Imadul Hasan, North Zone reached a competitive total of 268 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.For West Zone, Divya Gajraj was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, while Sallauddin and Shobhit Mishra claimed 2 wickets apiece.The chase proved to be a mountain too high for the West Zone.
