NOIDA: For nearly 10 days, a damaged underground cable has left Sector 53 residents in Noida grappling with an unreliable power supply, with the electricity department rerouting the load to another already-stressed feeder.The fault in Feeder No 9, linked to Sector 53 substation, has forced the department to temporarily shift its load to Feeder No 1.Residents said the additional burden on the feeder has triggered voltage fluctuations, burnt insulators and phase failures.In a letter to Sanjay Kumar Jain, chief engineer, Noida power department, PVVNL, RWA general secretary Virendra Singh Negi said Feeder No 1 was already carrying a substantial load from Kanchanjunga Apartments and Kanchanjunga Market.“The temporary rerouting of power through Feeder No 1, which already serves Kanchanjunga Apartments and Kanchanjunga Market, has created significant challenges, leading to frequent voltage fluctuations and incidents of insulator burnouts in the sector,” Negi said.Residents said phase failures and transformer faults had become more frequent, adding to concerns over the sector’s strained electrical infrastructure.They also flagged disruptions during bad weather and grid failures in neighbouring Sector 115.With the monsoon adding to the risk of faults, the RWA has pressed for the damaged cable to be repaired or replaced at the earliest.Negi also sought the intervention of FONRWA president Yogendra Sharma and secretary general KK Jain over the delay in repairs over the weekend.Power department officials said the fault was being examined and would be addressed soon.According to the information, the issue was resolved by late Monday afternoon.
