LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has termed the agitation by industrial workers in Noida as a probable attempt to revive Naxalism in the country.After chairing a meeting on the issue on Monday, Yogi voiced concerns about “indications” that some forces may attempt to exploit the situation to disturb law and order. “Naxalism in the country is now at the point of elimination, but attempts to revive it could be part of a larger conspiracy. Some recent protests may have involved such misleading and disruptive elements,” he said.
CM: Only genuine workers should be allowed to participate in negotiationsIn this regard, special vigilance must be maintained in industrial areas, the intelligence network must be kept active, and effective control must be ensured over any kind of provocative or disorder-spreading activities,” he said, adding that “such elements” must be identified and the strictest action taken against them.Reinforcing his suspicion of those responsible for the unrest, the CM said that only “genuine” workers should be allowed to participate in negotiations, adding that there have been occasions when external elements have attempted to create disorder by pretending to represent workers. He said that such elements should be kept out of the process, and the administration and unit management must establish direct communication with workers.The CM underlined his govt’s commitment to labour welfare during the meeting, directing officials to ensure strict compliance with labour laws across the state. He said that safe, dignified and humane working conditions must be ensured for all workers. To ensure that the matter did not escalate, the CM has directed industrial development authorities to initiate dialogue with industrial organisations and industry representatives, and ensure resolution of problems at the earliest.Emphasising that workers should be given timely and dignified remuneration, Yogi said that payment for overtime should be given according to existing rules. In addition to this, industries must ensure a safe workplace, clean drinking water, toilets, rest rooms, health facilities and necessary safety equipment to all workers.“An effective mechanism for regulation of working hours, safety of women workers, benefits of social security schemes and speedy redressal of grievances should be developed at the earliest. The problems of workers must be heard with sensitivity and resolved in a time-bound, just and transparent manner. In this direction, industrial unit managements will have to play an equally active role alongside govt,” he said.The CM also directed the labour department to coordinate with the Noida administration and develop an effective system of dialogue so that problems can be resolved at the initial level itself and situations of discontent do not arise.
