NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Friday said that it had not received any request from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) seeking permission to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.“If any request for permission is received, it will be examined as per the prescribed rules and procedures before a decision is taken,” a police officer said.CJP has asked its supporters to assemble at Parliament Street Police Station at 9am on Saturday to seek permission for a peaceful protest.Police said they had learnt of the development from social media and a close watch on the situation was being maintained. Monitoring has been stepped-up, police said.Officials said police personnel will be deployed at the venue as well as at other sensitive locations across the city to ensure law and order is maintained.“Security measures remain in place at Jantar Mantar at all times, and necessary arrangements will continue to be made depending on the situation,” the officer added.CJP founder, Abhijeet Dipke, is expected to land in Delhi from Boston on Saturday morning. CJP also issued a list of do’s and don’ts for those planning to join its representatives at the Parliament Street police station.“We encourage everyone to carry the national flag and a book since we are promoting right to education and equal opportunity… We encourage supporters to attend with friends and fellow citizens while maintaining discipline and respect for public order,” a statement issued by CJP said.
