Nagpur: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Nagpur unit has clarified that it neither organised nor officially backed the protest at Samvidhan Square that led to the detention of 45 individuals for violating police permissions on Wednesday night.In a statement released on CJP Nagpur’s social media platform on Thursday, the organisation said its members were present only as ordinary citizens to express solidarity with the protesters and that claims suggesting the demonstration was organised under the CJP banner were “incorrect and misleading”.The clarification came amid speculation the demonstration could be beginning of a larger CJP-led movement in city. Nagpur unit also released a video reiterating its commitment to peaceful protests. The party also thanked Nagpur police.The CJP Nagpur unit said it would be organising a peaceful demonstration at Samvidhan Square at 12 noon on Friday.
