GURGAON: A security sweep was carried out across several schools in the city on Wednesday after bomb threat emails triggered panic among students, parents and school authorities.At least 10 schools in the city including Suncity, HDFC, Amity and Shriram received hoax email threats at around 8:33 PM on Tuesday morning. After the email was received, students were evacuated from the school buildings. Police said it swung into action soon after the alerts surfaced, deploying teams from local police stations along with dog squads, bomb disposal squads and other specialised units to the affected campuses. “Extensive checks were conducted across school premises, including classrooms, buildings and adjoining areas.” an officer said. Officials said no suspicious person or explosive material was found during the searches.The incident led to heightened security measures, with schools activating emergency protocols and authorities ensuring the safe dispersal of students. Police maintained a strong presence in and around educational institutions during the operation.Senior officers said multiple teams are examining the emails and treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Cyber experts have been roped in to analyse the messages, verify their authenticity and trace their origin to identify those behind the threats.Police said the overall law and order situation remains under control and urged residents not to panic or spread rumours. Citizens have been asked to immediately inform authorities if they notice any suspicious activity, with officials assuring that surveillance on both physical locations and online platforms has been intensified.
