On June 21, JDU leaders will meet in Patna for the party’s national executive meeting. A lot has changed since March 24 when Nitish Kumar was re-elected as the president of the party. Nitish Kumar became a Rajya Sabha member and resigned from chief minister post in April this year. BJP’s Samrat Choudhary became the chief minister of the state and Nitish Kumar is currently a Rajya Sabha MP. His son Nishant is now part of the state cabinet as health minister.

In the forthcoming meeting, JDU leaders from different parts of the state will approve Nitish Kumar’s election as party president. It will be the first meeting where Nitish Kumar will be present only as JDU president and not as the CM of Bihar.

We will discuss the organizational expansion and future roadmap under our leader Nitish Kumar. The NDA government in the state is working on Nitish Kumar’s ‘Saat Nischay‘ programs and discussion will be held on to take the development and governance agenda further to benefit the people of Bihar,” Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, JDU spokesperson, told ET.
The meeting will be important also regarding the future leadership of the party and the role of Nishant is likely to be discussed. As of now, Nishant is just a party member and state minister with no organisational responsibility.
