“Don’t live in the aura of being an office-bearer, but work on the ground,” Nabin told the newly appointed members. He also urged them to work closely with the outgoing team, saying both should complement each other.
“Modiji and Yogiji have transformed Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh. Samajwadi Party and Congress have no issues to raise and are indulging in negative politics to mislead the people of the state. We have to continue working for Uttar Pradesh’s development, and NDA will form the government for the third consecutive time,” he said.
A dinner at chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence, a mango gathering hosted by deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and an evening meeting at deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya’s residence reflected Nabin’s effort to strike a balance and send a message of unity among the state’s top leadership. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary accompanied him at all the events.
Nabin also endorsed the leadership of CM Adityanath and said that the upcoming election will be fought under his leadership. He also cautioned party leaders not to give statements which could harm the party’s interest in any manner.
During his meetings, Nabin touched upon all the key issues of UP. From the Ram Temple donation theft allegations to UGC guidelines, he asked party leaders to ensure that accurate information reached people so that the Opposition does not get an opportunity to spread misinformation.
He also directed party workers to take the Centre’s and the state government’s schemes to every voter.Nabin held a separate meeting with former state BJP presidents and sought their feedback ahead of the assembly elections next year. The exercise was also seen as an attempt to convey that state president Chaudhary is working to carry the entire leadership along.
The BJP president also met leaders of NDA allies and heard their demands. “We demanded that our party should get representation in the upcoming polls based on our ground support, organisational strength and commitment to NDA,” Nishad Party chief and Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad told ET. Other NDA leaders who met Nabin were SBSP chief OP Rajbhar, RLD’s UP chief Trilok Tyagi and Apna Dal leader Ashish Patel.
