T’puram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Kerala Police is setting a commendable example for women’s safety through the Nirbhaya Night initiative. He was speaking at inauguration of the newly introduced Nirbhaya Night project by Kerala Police for the safety of women travelling at night, held at Police Training College here on Tuesday.Through Nirbhaya Night project, police aim to provide a sense of security to women travelling at odd hours for work and other purposes. The chief minister mentioned that this project will be implemented statewide, and necessary training will be provided to the officers. The project envisions coordinated operations of emergency response and support system, SOS button on Pol App, 112 helpline, district control rooms, control room vehicles, highway patrols and pink patrol vehicles to ensure that emergency police services are available to women who travel between 9pm and 5am.
