Jhansi: A Nihang Sikh in ceremonial attire and carrying a naked sword jumped onto the tracks in front of the Secunderabad-bound Duronto Express at Virangana Laxmibai Jhansi railway station on Friday night, forcing the driver to apply emergency brakes and the train to remain halted for around 10 minutes before he was persuaded to return to the platform.According to reports, the 12286 Duronto Express reached Jhansi from Hazrat Nizamuddin on Friday night when a Nihang Sikh suddenly jumped onto the tracks in front of the train engine. Within minutes, a couple of Sikh men reached him and persuaded him to return to the platform. After a long parley, the Nihang Sikh eventually agreed to come back.Those who persuaded him to return told onlookers that he was one of them and was travelling on the same train. The Nihang had reportedly become annoyed over something and took the step. Later, all of them boarded the same train again.PRO, NCR Jhansi Division, Manoj Kumar Singh, said they were enquiring into the matter and that further action would be taken.
