Bhubaneswar: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a chargesheet before a special court here against two accused in the rooftop blast case in Bhubaneswar’s Sundarpada area, which killed two persons and left two others critically injured on Jan 27 this year.“Accused Rohan Ranjan Rout and Amiya Mallick have been chargesheeted for murder, criminal conspiracy and illegal manufacture of explosives,” an NIA source said.The explosion occurred on Jan 27, when criminal Sehnawaz Malik, his mother Lizatun Bibi, fiancée Truptimayee Mahal and co-accused Amiya Mallick were allegedly assembling explosives on the terrace of their house. Malik succumbed to his injuries on Feb 4, while his mother died on Feb 10. Mahal and Mallick survived with severe burn injuries.The NIA took over the investigation from the police in April. Rout, arrested by the NIA on July 8, remains in judicial custody. Mallick, meanwhile, has secured interim protection from arrest from Orissa high court.
