Kolkata: The NIA has filed a charge sheet against 11 people over an alleged terror conspiracy linked to Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK), described as an offshoot of the banned Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), aimed at expanding operations in Bengal and the northeast.The charge sheet was filed on June 26 before the NIA special court in Guwahati. The accused face charges under provisions of BNS and UAPA.According to NIA sources, senior JMB member Imam Mahmud Habibullah formed IMK to build a base in India. Of the 11 named, Nasimuddin allegedly handled Assam operations, while Jagir Mia led network expansion in Tripura. The group allegedly spread extremist ideology, radicalised youth, held covert meetings and indoctrination programmes, and used digital platforms to circulate propaganda and recruit members, securing oaths of allegiance. Devices and documents were seized to map communications.The probe continues with support from state police units.
