Chennai: Anti-corruption collective Arappor Iyakkam has issued an open letter to actors, filmmakers, sportspersons, writers, social media influencers and media organizations across the state, urging them to post short videos online to raise awareness against the practice of cash-for-votes. It said that while many voters recognize that the practice is wrong, it has become normalized. The organization has been running a grassroots campaign over the past few months at nearly 200 villages and urban localities, encouraging residents to pledge not to accept money for votes. In several areas, residents who commit to the pledge put up stickers outside their homes saying they will not sell their vote. TNN
