NEW DELHI: The director of an NGO has been arrested for allegedly murdering his colleague following a financial dispute in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar.The deceased has been identified as Harish Kandwal, 46, a resident of southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. He was associated with the NGO operated by the accused and had reportedly been working with the organisation for some time.Police said they received information around midnight on Sunday regarding a man who had been brought to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital with a stab wound to his neck. Doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead on arrival.A case was registered at the Hari Nagar police station and a probe was initiated. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Kandwal had allegedly been stabbed after a quarrel broke out between him and Ashmi Ali, 46, a resident of Farash Bazar.Police said Ali runs an NGO from his residence and was reportedly involved in a financial dispute with the deceased in connection with their professional dealings. The disagreement is suspected to have escalated into a heated altercation near the CD Block area of Hari Nagar, during which Kandwal was allegedly attacked.Investigators further stated that both men were seen together for a significant part of Saturday before the incident took place. CCTV footage from nearby areas and statements of local witnesses are being examined to piece together the sequence of events.The accused has since been arrested and is currently being interrogated. Police said efforts are underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the fatal assault.
