The search for the next James Bond is reportedly in its final stages, with speculation mounting that the actor who will succeed Daniel Craig as the next 007 may have already been selected.
James Bond casting in ‘final round’
Industry scooper Daniel Richtman dropped an update about the film’s much-talked-about casting process. In a tweet, he wrote, “I hear they’re in the final round of casting for James Bond and might have already found their guy.”The latest claim comes as the Bond casting process moves towards its final phase. Reports earlier this year indicated that director Denis Villeneuve and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman had begun notifying actors who had advanced to another round of auditions, with screen tests expected to take place in August.
Actors rumoured to be the next James Bond
Although the identities of the finalists have not been officially disclosed, the names that have been repeatedly linked to the role are Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Turner, known for ‘Masters of the Air’, and Lowden, who stars in the spy series ‘Slow Horses’, have emerged as particularly prominent names in recent speculation, with some suggesting that Turner may just bag the part, while others seem to suggest that Lowden is the better fit. Betting markets have also placed Turner and Lowden among the leading contenders for the role.
Amy Pascal on next James Bond
Producer Amy Pascal, in a conversation with Deadline, revealed when fans would be notified about the casting. She said to the portal, “I would say the end of the year is a good bet. We are being really, really methodical.”Pascal also admitted, “Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is stirring and exciting and different.”The next Bond film will mark the first instalment of the franchise under Amazon MGM Studios’ creative control. Director Denis Villeneuve is attached to helm the project.The 007 franchise will reportedly be getting a reboot after Craig concluded his five-film run as Bond with 2021’s ‘No Time to Die’.
