Prayagraj: Prof Jonathan A Lal assumed the office of vice-chancellor of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Naini, on Thursday.Prof Lal reiterated his commitment to establishing the university as a global leader in innovation and modern agricultural education. Prof Lal has represented the university nationally and internationally in several positions. He served as pro VC (academic affairs) since July 2022. He is also an international board member of the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) and Chair for the Asia-Pacific Region of ICPC. Prof Lal serves as scientific adviser at the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine (EAPM) and is a scientific adviser and board member of TubaScan Ltd / Microbe & Lab BV, a Dutch biotech company.He previously served as a visiting professor at the Institute for Public Health Genomics (IPHG), Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and was also an editor of two prestigious academic journals. Prof Ranu Prasad also assumed office as pro-VC (academic affairs) of the university.
