Prayagraj: Govt has formed agricultural monitoring committees at the state, division and district levels with an aim of boosting agri exports and increasing farmers’ income. The administration is encouraging export of agri products through these monitoring committees. “Along with better coordination between farmers and exporters, farmers are now being empowered to export their products directly. For this, 18 farmers and 4 Farmer Producer Organisations from the division were sent to the National Institute of Plant Health Management in Hyderabad for training. They received detailed training on agricultural export and documentation processes so that they could export their agricultural products hassle-free,” said agricultural marketing officer of Prayagraj Division, Dinesh Chandra. Umesh Patel, a farmer from Prayagraj’s FPO, said till now he used to export his produce through an exporter from Varanasi, which prevented him from receiving a higher price. “Now, he will be able to complete the export process himself, thus earning the full value of his produce,” he said. Chandra said exports by farmers in the division are steadily increasing. In the division, exports worth Rs 6 crore were made in 2023-24, which reached Rs 26 crore in 2024-25. Similarly, exports worth approximately Rs 47 crore were recorded so far in the 2025-26. In this way, agricultural exports increased by almost 8 times in the division in the last 3 years. To maintain this progress, clusters of farmers’ agricultural commodities were created. An amla cluster was formed in Pratapgarh, banana clusters in Fatehpur and Kaushambi, and potato and green chilli clusters in Fatehpur have been formed. About 208 authorised users of amla from Pratapgarh and 144 users of surkha guava from Prayagraj were registered in these clusters.
