Ranchi: Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) premises will soon have a 10-bed hospital on its premises in Tendergram, DGP Tadasha Mishra announced on Thursday. She said the facility will be used to treat the personnel who get injured in operations against left-wing extremists.Notably, the JJ is a specialized force of the state police which is deployed to combat left-wing extremism. On Thursday, it celebrated its 18th establishment day. Mishra attended a function formally held to mark the occasion.
Praising the unit, Mishra said JJ has eliminated over 50 extremists and arrested 300 others since it was formed in 2008. “The JJ, comprising 35 assault groups and 12 bomb detection and disposal squads (BBDDS), is operating in Saranda and working hard to eradicate the Maoists. Along with the paramilitary forces, the JJ carried out operations in LWE hubs, including the Chaibasa-Saraikela-Khunti tri-junction, Budha Pahar, Jhumra Hills, Lugu Pahar, and the Parasnath Hills, and played a key role in flushing out the outlaws,” she said.IG Special Task Force Anup Birthary said the J campus currently has a primary health centre without a doctor. “Apart from the personnel injured in anti-extremist operations, the hospital could also handle cases of malaria, which often strikes personnel during anti-extremist operations. The campus also has families who could also get treatment in cases of disease and emergencies like heart attacks,” he told TOI.
