New Delhi: Multiple construction and civic works in and around the New Delhi Railway Station are expected to disrupt traffic over the next few weeks, with key arterial stretches facing partial closures and diversions. According to the traffic advisory, one carriageway of Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate via Delite Cinema will remain closed from Feb 26 to March 12 due to station-redevelopment work. Traffic on the stretch is likely to remain slow and partially restricted during this period.

The affected corridor includes Asaf Ali Road between Turkman Gate and Delhi Gate Chowk, as well as Chaman Lal Marg. Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. Those travelling towards Delhi Gate Chowk from Hamdard Chowk or RA Kamla Market may take Minto Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and BSZ Marg. Commuters approaching from Guru Nanak Chowk can use Mirdard Chowk, Mirdard Marg and BZA Marg towards Delhi Gate. In a separate advisory, Delhi Traffic Police said excavation work will be carried out on Chelmsford Road opposite the station from Feb 26 to March 5 for restoration of a sewer line by Delhi Jal Board. Traffic movement on Chelmsford Road and adjoining routes is likely to remain affected and partially restricted. The impacted areas include Chelmsford Road opposite the station, the Munjia Chowk stretch and connecting roads leading to the Paharganj side. Railway passengers have been advised to plan their travel and keep additional time for possible congestion. Motorists have been asked not to park on diversion routes and to follow instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed at key junctions.
