Dibrugarh: Assam assembly speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Monday visited the construction site of the proposed new Assam legislative assembly complex at Khanikar in Dibrugarh and reviewed the project’s master plan, a key component of the state’s proposed second capital.During the inspection, Dass said the new assembly building is being designed with an eye on the future. “The proposed assembly building is being designed with a seating capacity of 200 members, keeping in view the possibility of an increase in the number of assembly constituencies in Assam in the future,” he said. The Assam legislative assembly currently has 126 elected members.The state govt has approved the establishment of the state’s second capital at Dibrugarh and sanctioned around Rs 284 crore for the construction of the new assembly complex.
