Nagpur: Nagpur’s newest dedicated space for art and exhibitions will open its doors on July 25, with ‘Rangmegh’ — a six-day showcase of works by 16 city artists — marking the inauguration of the Kavi Suresh Bhat Convention Centre Art Gallery and Exhibition Centre in Reshimbagh.Mayor Nita Thakre and Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar will jointly inaugurate the gallery at 11 am. The exhibition will remain open to visitors from July 25 to 30, between 4pm and 8pm. Located on the ground floor of Kavi Suresh Bhat Auditorium on Great Nag Road, the 12,500 sq ft facility has been developed as a multipurpose venue for cultural, educational, corporate, social and commercial events.The convention centre has four fully air-conditioned halls fitted with a folding partition system. The halls can be used separately or combined to create an around 8,000 sq ft pillar-free event space for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, business meetings, training programmes and cultural events. The facility also features acoustic panels, carpet flooring, decorative lighting and modern light effects.A dedicated art gallery has been created to provide artists from Nagpur and other parts of the country a platform to exhibit and sell paintings, sculptures and other works. The complex also has around 7,000 sq ft of open space, where temporary domes and pavilions can be erected for trade fairs, food festivals, exhibitions and cultural gatherings.A 4,500 sq ft fine-dining restaurant is also proposed adjacent to the convention centre. Once operational, it will offer refreshments and meals, allowing the complex to function as an integrated destination for events, art and hospitality.Coordinated by noted artist Shirish Mulmule, ‘Rangmegh’ will feature works by Mulmule, Krishna Padhye, Bijay Biswal, Vishwanath Sable, Anand Dabli, Abdul Gaffar, Ashish Bodade, Vinay Kumre, Yogita Kandalkar, Girish Tol, Sadanand Chaudhary, Nana Misal, Nikhil Giri, Rajendra Sakalle, Sameer Deshmukh and Ashok Tharsekar.The exhibition will bring together varied styles, subjects and artistic techniques, offering visitors a glimpse into Nagpur’s diverse contemporary art landscape.(Inputs by Tanishka Ghuguskar)
