Guwahati: The devastating floods in Nepal have left a family in Assam’s Tezpur anxiously awaiting news of their son-in-law, Deepak Kharel, a Nepalese citizen, who has remained missing since the disaster struck.Deepak married Mallika, the younger daughter of Soruram and Dilmaya Sharma of Tezpur, in 2010. He was working for a private company in Rasuwa, Nepal, where he was last known to be before the floods.“It has been five days, and my son-in-law remains untraced. He was in Rasuwa and works for a private company. We spoke to him on the phone just a day before the floods struck,” Soruram said.Deepak’s wife, Mallika, is currently staying at Kakarbhitta with their two sons.Dilmaya said the family had learnt that several employees of the company where Deepak worked had also gone missing in Rasuwa.“My elder son-in-law contacted both the local administration and the company where Deepak worked, but so far, nobody has been able to provide us with any information,” she said.The family in Tezpur has been living in uncertainty since August 26, when the floods struck Nepal. Mallika and her children remain in Kakarbhitta, while relatives in Tezpur have spent sleepless nights awaiting information.“All our hopes are now with the Almighty. We pray that he is brought back to us alive,” Dilmaya said.
