Thiruvananthapuram: The assistant director at the Neendakara fisheries station has been transferred following protests over a controversial remark he allegedly made during a discussion with the mother of missing fisherman Gautham Krishna.The officer, Thasnima Begum, has reportedly been transferred to another office in Kollam district. The alleged reference to a “demand” during a discussion with Krishna’s mother, Reshma, had triggered protests and complaints.Reshma has also staged a protest demanding that authorities intensify efforts to locate her son. Expressing disappointment over the response from the govt and officials, she said she did not want promises but wanted her son to be found.Krishna has been missing in the sea for nine days. Search operations continued on Saturday with additional resources deployed to intensify the efforts. Intermittent rain, rough sea and strong undercurrent are posing major challenges to the operation.Despite the adverse weather, authorities and local fishermen continue to participate in the search. Further details regarding the transfer of the fisheries official have not been officially disclosed.
