Panaji: The Bombay high court dismissed a criminal appeal filed by a Nigerian challenging his 10-year sentence and conviction under the NDPS Act.The sessions court convicted Innocent Amamchukwu Umesegha alias Amamchukwu Okeke in 2021 after he was found in Siolim in 2015 in possession of 2.2g of LSD liquid worth Rs 2.7 lakh in the international market.
The high court, while confirming the judgment of the sessions court, did not accept his contention that the CFSL report contained several discrepancies. The court observed that the scientific officer who carried out the test of the substance was cross-examined at length by him and proved his report, forwarding letters, and certificate of authority.“He gave a categorical opinion that the substance tested positive for the presence of LSD. He also deposed about the various tests that he carried out on the sample and the observations recorded therein,” stated Justice Ashish S Chavan.
