Srinagar, Sep 12: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar on Saturday said the party would continue to strive for the restoration of constitutional and democratic rights and statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sagar made the remarks while addressing a meeting of NC legislators from Srinagar district at the party headquarters. The meeting reviewed political activities in the district, party programmes, public issues, development works and ongoing projects.
Chief Spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq, Habba Kadal MLA Shameema Firdous, Lal Chowk MLA Ahsan Pardesi, Hazratbal MLA Salman Ali Sagar and Srinagar District President Peer Afaq Ahmad attended the meeting.
Sagar said fulfilling commitments made to the people remained among the top priorities of the NC government and that every effort would be made to honour them.
He accused the BJP and “like-minded parties” of spreading what he termed objectionable language and fabricated allegations against the National Conference, saying such attempts to weaken the party had continued since the time of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
He said the NC’s bond with the people could not be severed, describing the party as an ideology and movement deeply rooted in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sagar also urged party legislators and office-bearers to maintain close contact with the public, raise their concerns before the appropriate forums and strengthen the party’s people-centric and democratic agenda.
Meanwhile, public delegations and party workers from different parts of the Valley met Sagar and apprised him of various issues. He contacted concerned authorities and directed them to take necessary measures for their early resolution.
