Pune: Nayab tehsildar of Junnar Ananta Gawari, 52, died after his car collided head-on with a dumper on the Otur-Junnar Road at Pangarimatha village, about 88km from Pune, on Saturday afternoon. Two other occupants of the car, Vijay Khartode, 48, and Korade, sustained injuries, Otur police said.An officer from the Otur police said that the accident occurred around 2.30pm, when the car was heading towards Junnar from Otur and the dumper was coming from the opposite side. “On a sharp turn at Pangarmatha, the vehicles collided head-on. Gawari, Khartode and Korade sustained injuries,” the officer said.Gawari was first taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed when he was being shifted to Pune. “Khartode and Korade are undergoing treatment in a hospital,” he added.The police have taken the dumper’s driver into custody. The vehicle belonged to a stone-crushing firm. “Our investigations are on,” the officer added.
