Margao: Ten days after a case was registered against a man for shooting at a pet dog at Navelim, the dog owner’s family has intensified its demand for the arrest of the accused. The family alleges that he deliberately destroyed evidence by producing two weapons unrelated to the shooting to mislead the investigation. The case against Jovito Fernandes, 20, a resident of Navelim, was initially registered on June 21 following the shooting of a dog belonging to Valentina Vieira of Bellem, Navelim. The attack, which occurred on June 19, left the canine with serious injuries after being struck by three out of four pellets fired from an air gun.The Vieira family alleges that Fernandes provided police with two different air guns, neither of which was used in the crime.According to family sources, when the suspect first produced an air gun along with pellets, the forensic examination revealed significant discrepancies. Subsequently, he presented a second weapon to authorities, which the family claims was not used in the shooting either.
