CHANDIGARH: BJP MP Naveen Jindal on Thursday inaugurated the RKSD Naveen Avsar International Skill Centre at RKSD College in Kaithal and said projects worth over ?520 crore had been approved under the Prime Minister SETU (PM SETU) scheme to modernise Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts.Speaking at the event, the three-time Lok Sabha MP said the skill centre fulfilled a key promise from his election manifesto to establish two international skill training centres in the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency. He said the first centre had already been launched in Kurukshetra.Jindal stressed the importance of vocational education, saying degrees alone were no longer sufficient in a rapidly changing technological environment. He said skills were equally important for success and would help young people access better employment opportunities.He said the PM SETU investment would upgrade ITIs with modern technology, advanced laboratories and industry-oriented training infrastructure, improving employment prospects for young people in both domestic and overseas markets.Jindal also felicitated candidates selected for jobs in Dubai, Oman and Germany through an international placement drive organised by the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule International Skill Centre in Ladwa. He said their selection reflected the growing global employability of Haryana’s skilled workforce.Dr Manish Mishra, Vice-President (Skill Development) at the Naveen Jindal Foundation, said the foundation’s “Campus in Campus” initiative had reached 20 educational institutions. He said the Kaithal centre would offer courses in graphics and animation, beauty and wellness, foreign languages, personality development, and vocational skills aimed at international employment.
