Lucknow: National Fire Service Day was observed across Uttar Pradesh on Apr 14 with the launch of a week-long fire safety awareness campaign by the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services.Observed annually, National Fire Service Day commemorates the bravery of firefighters and aims to raise public awareness about fire prevention and safety measures.On the occasion, chief minister, Yogi Adityanath and Rajeev Krishna were ceremonially presented with flag pins by DG fire, Sujeet Kumar Pandey, marking the beginning of the Fire Safety Week (Apr 14–20).The department organised a series of events across the state to highlight the courage and dedication of fire service personnel. A special campaign this year also focuses on the theme: “Safe Schools, Safe Hospitals, and a Fire-Safe Society.”At the Hazratganj Fire Station in Lucknow, the director-general paid tributes at the martyrs’ memorial, honouring the sacrifice of 66 firefighters who lost their lives in the 1944 Mumbai dock explosion. As part of Fire Safety Week, mock drills and public outreach programmes will also be conducted statewide to promote preparedness and minimise fire-related risks.
