Pune: Following the death of a 17-year-old two-wheeler rider in a hit-and-run accident at Narhe on July 11, the Pune police on Thursday registered a case against the unidentified car driver and the owner of the two-wheeler that the minor was riding.An officer from the Narhe police said the accident occurred around 9.30pm on July 11, when an unidentified car hit the scooter being ridden by the teenager. He suffered severe head injuries and succumbed to them while undergoing treatment.“During the investigation, it was revealed that a Narhe resident had allowed the victim to use his two-wheeler despite knowing that he was a minor,” the officer said.He added that the police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver for causing death by negligence and rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The two-wheeler owner has also been booked under Section 180 of the Motor Vehicles Act for permitting an unauthorised person to drive the vehicle.
