Silchar: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Cachar police and a field intelligence team, dismantled a narco-arms module in the Banskandi area of the district, officials said on Friday.Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team launched a swift raid, recovering a factory-made pistol with four rounds of ammunition. Narcotics concealed in soap cases, weighing around 377.4 grams, were also seized during the operation.Officials said six of the soap cases, weighing approximately 108 grams, tested positive for contraband, with an estimated market value of Rs 64 lakh.A scooter allegedly used for transporting the drugs was also seized.One person, identified as Mafijul Islam from Cachar district, was arrested at the spot.The accused, along with the seized items, has been handed over to Cachar police for further investigation.Authorities suspect the involvement of a wider network and are probing possible interstate links.
