Nagpur: Sanvi Ghate of Nagpur clinched a gold and a silver medal to make her presence felt in the Jawaharlal Darda Memorial Maharashtra State Sub-Junior badminton championship, which concluded at Nehru Stadium, Yavatmal on Sunday.In the U-15 girls doubles title clash, Sanvi paired up with Pune’s Rudraniraje Nimbalkar to emerge champion with a facile straight games 15-13, 15-11 triumph over Imaan Motorwala and Rudra Gawde.In the U-15 girls’ singles final, third seed Sanvi suffered a 11-15, 8-15 defeat against Samanvaya Dhananjay to win a silver medal.A total of 503 shuttlers from across Maharashtra participated in the five-day state tournament.Later, former Rajya Sabha member Vijay Darda distributed the prizes.RESULTSU-15 Girls Singles (QF): Sanvi Ghate bt Tejasvi Bhutada 10-15, 15-10, 15-6; Semifinals: Sanvi bt 6-Rudraniraje Nimbalkar 15-13, 15-8; Final: Sanvi lost to 10-Samanvaya Dhananjay 11-15, 8-15;U-15 Girls Doubles (QF): Sanvi-Rudraniraje Nimbalkar bt Samanvaya Dhananjay and Swara Morye 12-15, 15-13, 15-8; Semifinals: Sanvi-Rudraniraje bt Druvi Kumbephalkar and Riddhi Khopkar 15-13, 15-13; Final: Sanvi-Rudraniraje bt Imaan Motorwala and Rudra Gawde 15-13, 15-11.
