Nagpur: Nagpur University (NU) has accelerated the long-pending process to appoint a full-time director of the Examination and Evaluation Board, shortlisting 25 candidates for interviews likely to be held next month. The key administrative post in the university’s examination section remained vacant for nearly 2 years, forcing the institution to run the section via temporary arrangements. The position fell vacant in Sept 2024 following completion of the previous incumbent’s tenure. Since then, the university relied on acting officials to oversee examination-related operations.VC Manali Kshirsagar told TOI the recruitment process witnessed delays due to administrative reasons and the model code of conduct, but entered its final stage. She said a scrutiny committee examined applications received for the post and shortlisted 25 eligible candidates for personal interviews. She said a selection committee constituted as per university norms will conduct the interviews before recommending a suitable candidate for appointment by next month-end.The director of Examination and Evaluation Board plays a critical role in managing the university’s examination system, including conduct of examinations, result processing, evaluation mechanisms, implementation of digital examination reforms, and coordination with affiliated colleges. The absence of a regular director has been a concern as NU handles examinations and results of thousands of students across its affiliated institutions. The shortlisted candidates are expected to appear before the selection panel next month. Following the interviews, the panel will submit its recommendations to the university administration, after which the appointment process will be completed. The post assumes significance as NU continues to expand its academic and examination activities while implementing reforms under National Education Policy (NEP).
