Nagpur: In a strong pre-emptive crackdown to guarantee peaceful Holi celebrations, Nagpur city police temporarily externed 280 notorious history-sheeters and potential troublemakers from the city and its rural limits under Section 163(2) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.Zonal DCP Rahul Madane issued the orders banning these individuals — identified through intelligence and technical inputs — from entering Nagpur limits from March 1 to 4, after the Holi celebrations end.The notices were served only after giving each person an opportunity to be heard, making this a duly compliant preventive measure aimed at averting any disturbance to public peace during the festival.The externed goons are from different police station jurisdictions: Kotwali (38), Ganeshpeth (37), Tehsil (93), Lakadganj (35), Pachpaoli (23), and Shanti Nagar (54).The action was taken under CP Ravinder Singal and jtCP Navinchandra Reddy.Nagpur Police appealed to citizens to celebrate Holi responsibly, avoid spreading rumours, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. Strict legal action will be initiated against anyone violating the externment orders, said Madane.
