Nagpur: Election observer Sanjay Yadav on Thursday directed all nodal officers overseeing the Nagpur Local Authorities constituency bypoll to the Maharashtra Legislative Council to ensure that no lapses or procedural errors creep into any stage of the exercise, even as the contest shaped up as a sharp face-off between BJP’s Dr Rajiv Potdar and Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe. Polling will be held on June 18 and counting on June 22.Yadav reviewed poll preparations at the collectorate and held detailed discussions with officials on polling material, security arrangements at the counting centre and adherence to the model code of conduct. Collector Kumar Ashirwad, resident deputy collector Anoop Khande, deputy district election officer Rachana Indurkar and all nodal officers attended the review meeting on Thursday. The bypoll was necessitated after revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2024 polls. There are 836 eligible voters drawn from corporators, municipal councillors and local authority representatives. Counting will be held on the collectorate premises, for which security protocols were reviewed.
