NEW DELHI: Hundreds of students, youth, and senior citizens staged a protest in Nagpur on Monday in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk and the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Raising anti-government slogans over alleged examination paper leaks, protesters assembled at Samvidhan Square and vowed to continue their agitation until Pradhan steps down, news agency PTI reported.The demonstrators also expressed anger over Wangchuk’s removal from Jantar Mantar in the national capital and the lathi charge on students during their march towards Parliament.Holding placards, banners and photographs of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the protesters gathered at the venue amid heavy police deployment.Earlier in the day, thousands of protesters gathered near Parliament Street in Delhi and attempted to march towards Parliament.The protest was staged to demand accountability over alleged examination irregularities and the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while protesters faced a baton charge by security personnel.(With agency inputs)
