Dimapur: In a major relief to three families, Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav’s intervention ensured prompt issuance of Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards to three persons with disabilities.Taking note of a news report highlighting delays in the issuance of UDID cards to three persons with disabilities in Peren district, Yadav intervened and directed the departments of social welfare and health & family welfare to take immediate action on the matter.He instructed the departments to ensure that the pending UDID cards of three applicants, Kerehunglungle, Nchayi Kuame, and Keligumbe Hairangbuing, were processed and issued within seven days by May 29.Following the intervention of the governor, the three beneficiaries received their UDID cards on Friday.The timely intervention has enabled them to access various government welfare schemes, assistance programmes, rehabilitation support, and other benefits linked to the UDID system.Yadav reiterated the importance of ensuring timely delivery of essential services to persons with disabilities and directed the departments concerned to continue addressing procedural delays affecting beneficiaries in the district.He lauded the two departments for their prompt response and coordinated efforts in resolving the matter within the stipulated timeframe.Yadav also said the departments are coordinating with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to facilitate the required assistive devices and support for the beneficiaries based on their individual needs.
