Imphal: The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) on Saturday submitted a representation to the director general of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), seeking a fair, impartial and expeditious investigation into the abduction, hostage-taking, torture and murder of six Naga civilians from Konsakhul village in Kangpokpi district.CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh had earlier said the case has been handed over to the NIA and assured perpetrators will be dealt with according to the law.The representation, submitted through the DC of Senapati district, expressed deep anguish over the killing of the six civilians who were abducted and held hostage on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village. Their mortal remains were recovered on June 10 .Describing the incident as a “profound human tragedy,” the Union said the victims were subjected to extreme violence, with their bodies found beheaded, mutilated and dismembered. In its memorandum, the NWU urged the NIA to identify and prosecute all those directly or indirectly involved in the abduction, unlawful confinement, torture, murder and concealment of evidence.The union stressed that the case demands a thorough, time-bound and unbiased investigation given its gravity and sensitivity.
