Mysuru: To prevent fire accidents that may occur in high-rise buildings, an aerial ladder platform vehicle capable of reaching a height of 52 metres will be provided to the fire station.Mysuru regional fire officer, who heads five districts in southern Karnataka, P Chandan told TOI that this specialised vehicle will enhance emergency response by enabling firefighters to access upper floors quickly, support rescue operations, and deliver water or firefighting equipment at elevated levels.

Currently, Bengaluru and Mangaluru have this vehicle, and Mysuru will soon have this advanced vehicle, which is also useful in fighting fires not just in high-rise residential buildings but also in high-rise shopping malls, he said.The 52-metre reach will improve operational capability for buildings that are difficult to serve with standard ground-based equipment, especially where internal access is limited due to smoke, heat, or structural damage. The platform will also assist in evacuating occupants from balconies up to 16 floors and from windows when stairwells or lifts are unsafe or unusable.Providing this vehicle will strengthen preparedness for high-rise incidents, reduce response time, and increase the safety of both residents and emergency personnel.Rooftop solar panelsRTO offices in Mysuru will soon become self-reliant in electricity by installing rooftop solar panels. RTO (West) Vasanth C told TOI that his office in Chamaraja Mohalla will soon start harnessing solar power. Rooftop solar panels were installed as part of the proposed project and will soon start generating clean power during working hours, reducing dependence on the CESC, which supplies power to the office in the heart of Mysuru.Meanwhile, the govt also allocated Rs 10 crore for the Karnataka Exhibition Authority in Mysuru to strengthen infrastructure and operations.
