Ludhiana: Police have launched an investigation after a 24-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an agricultural field near Sidhwan Kalan village on Friday evening.The discovery of the body, found near a tubewell motor room along the Sidhwan Kalan–Barsal link road, sparked a wave of concern among local residents. Police have identified the deceased as Paramveer Singh, a resident of nearby Cheemna village. According to local reports, witnesses discovered Singh’s body with blood visible around his nose and immediately alerted the Sadar Jagraon police. Officers arrived shortly after to take the body into custody for a post-mortem examination.Inspector Surjit Singh, the station house officer (SHO) for Sadar Jagraon, said police are currently awaiting the results of a forensic analysis. “We have sent the viscera for analysis, and the exact cause of death will be determined once we receive the post-mortem and laboratory reports,” the inspector said.While an official cause of death has not been established, preliminary police inquiries suggest Singh may have ingested a poisonous substance. Investigators have noted that Paramveer Singh, who was unmarried, had been struggling with his financial situation.He had recently returned to India after working in Dubai for several months. His family has been marked by tragedy before; police confirmed that Singh’s father died by suicide in 2023. Police authorities have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) as they continue to piece together the final hours leading to the young man’s death.
