TIMES NEWS NETWORKMangaluru: Members of the Federation of Like-minded Organisations of Dakshina Kannada District expressed anger against the Congress govt stating that injustice has been meted out to Muslims and the AHINDA (minorities, backward classes, and Dalits) community.“It is deeply painful that the Congress govt in Karnataka, which came to power on the plank of social justice, AHINDA principles, and minority rights, has ignored the aspirations of the minority Muslim community and the AHINDA section. It has been a long-standing demand of our organisations that minorities must get adequate representation in the state’sadministrative and political system,” said Bharatesh Bajal, president, AHINDA Mangaluru. He said that BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has been recognised as a strong voice of the Muslim community, consistently raising community issues at the govt level and contributing significantly to the growth of the Congress party. Not offering him a more prominent position in the cabinet and overlooking him during the first phase of thecabinet expansion will be a great injustice to the community, he said.Lolaksha, president, Confederation of SCs’ and STs Organisations, said that a govt that came to power with the support of minorities, backward classes, and AHINDA communities neglecting those very sections during the distribution of power goes against the core spirit of social justice. “This is not just an injustice to an individual; it is a blatant disregard forthe sentiments of lakhs of minority voters,” he said. The federation has urged the state govt and the Congress high command to ensure that representation be given to the Muslim community in the cabinet and key administrative posts. “At least five cabinet berths shouldbe given to the Muslim community. Zameer Ahmed Khan should be given thedeputy chief minister’s position,” they demanded.
