Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao has slammed the Musi project, stating it lacks clear policy, DPR, environmental clearances, and social impact assessments, while eviction notices are being issued to families. He questioned the legality of these actions and accused chief minister A Revanth Reddy of using the project for real estate interests, alleging the current govt prioritises land deals over public welfare.Along with former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, MLAs Sudheer Reddy and Madhavaram Krishna Rao, and Rajendranagar BRS in charge Karthik Reddy, he met the families of Madhu Park Apartments who were facing eviction in the name of the Musi Riverfront Project. Speaking to the media, Harish Rao strongly condemned the state govt’s actions and accused Revanth Reddy of using the Musi project as a cover for real estate interests.Rao recalled that the previous govt focused on cleaning the Musi without displacing any families, aiming to improve Hyderabad’s image. He demanded accountability for the govt’s financial priorities, highlighting the paradox of funding luxury projects while claiming a lack of funds for essential services.He emphasised that BRS supports cleaning the river but opposes demolishing homes. Rao condemned the threats to families with eviction notices and assured them that BRS would support them legally and politically. He called for the withdrawal of the eviction notices and urged the use of open land for development instead. He pledged that the party would protect residents’ rights and rebuild the Musi without affecting homes when KCR returns to power.
