Hisar: An accused in a theft case registered at Ding police station in Sirsa district escaped from police custody after allegedly seeking permission to use the washroom. The accused, identified as Mahendra Singh alias Nikita, a resident of Azad Nagar in Fatehabad, was brought from Bhiwani jail on a production warrant in connection with a theft case. He was taken on police remand for further interrogation.

According to police sources, the accused had sought permission to use the washroom at the police station. A Home Guard constable accompanied him, but he reportedly managed to evade the guard and flee from the premises.Police officials said Mahendra Singh has several criminal cases registered against him. Besides the theft case in Ding, he was also reportedly facing a murder case in Fatehabad. The accused was scheduled to be produced before a local court on Sunday upon completion of his remand. However, following his escape, police were unable to present him. A search operation was launched, but no concrete leads were found at the time of filing this report. MSID:: 128379096 413 |
