A Mumbai woman reported an incident of road rage involving a scooter rider in south Mumbai

MUMBAI: A Mumbai woman has alleged that a scooter rider travelling on the wrong side of the road blocked her car and verbally abused her at a junction in south Mumbai, in an incident that has triggered concerns over traffic violations and road rage in the city.Monal Jhaveri shared the incident on X, saying it took place at the junction of Patkar Marg and Gamdevi Road. She alleged that the rider was coming towards her from the wrong side and stopped directly in front of her car, preventing her from moving ahead.In a follow-up post, Jhaveri shared a video of the confrontation. The clip shows a man standing beside her car and allegedly using abusive language in Hindi. He is then seen getting on his scooter and riding away, again on the wrong side of the road.“This is how he abused me with the choicest words in Hindi… 1st he threatened me, insisting I open my window, which I refused… he claimed his girlfriend had her period… finally drove off in a hurry, again driving on the wrong side of the road,” she wrote, tagging the traffic police.

Police respondMumbai Traffic Police responded to her post, saying, “Tardeo Traffic Division has been informed about this.” The police later told her that “action” had been taken against the rider.Online reactionsThe post drew mixed reactions from social media users. Many flagged wrong-side riding by two-wheelers as an “endemic” problem that police need to enforce strictly.One user claimed traffic personnel at times allow wrong-side movement during peak hours, giving the impression that it is normal.Another praised Jhaveri and said motorists should not give way to wrong-side drivers.
