Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday met several leading industrialists in Mumbai and invited them to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027, scheduled to be held in Jan next year. The meetings were held as part of a roadshow aimed at attracting investments and strengthening industry partnerships.According to a post by Patel on X, industry leaders including Anand Mahindra, Ajay Piramal, Harsh Goenka, Dilip Shanghvi, Achin Gupta, Burjis Godrej, Nikhil Merchant, Amit Harlalka, Satish Pai and Dipali Goenka took part in the interactions.An official statement said Patel discussed opportunities in the electric vehicle sector, GIFT City and other emerging areas with Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra. The talks also explored new avenues for investment, collaboration, and development to further reinforce Gujarat’s position as a preferred investment destination.Swan Corporation managing director Nikhil Merchant praised Gujarat’s shipping policy and expressed confidence in the state’s commitment to industry-led growth and investments. Welspun Living CEO Dipali Goenka discussed potential investments and expansion plans aimed at boosting growth, exports and employment by leveraging Gujarat’s robust textile ecosystem and business-friendly policies.The statement further said that discussions with Hindalco managing director Satish Pai focused on opportunities in industrial manufacturing, including copper recycling, e-waste management and circular economy initiatives.AM/NS India CEO Amit Harlalka said the company was nearing completion of its planned Rs 80,000 crore investment in Gujarat and was considering an additional Rs 10,000 crore investment at Hazira, primarily in renewable energy and battery storage projects.The 2027 edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit will be held under the theme ‘Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future’. The summit will highlight emerging sectors such as semiconductors, fintech, artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, green growth and soft power.
