Mumbai: Police investigating the death of two MBA students following consumption of ecstasy pills at a music concert in Goregaon (East) arrested the 11th accused in the case on Wednesday evening.Police said Jiya Jacob (33) was picked up from her Ulhasnagar residence following the money trail. Jacob will be produced before the Borivli court on Thursday, with police seeking her custody. “During inquiries with the prime accused, Ayush Sahitya and others, the probe team found that money had been credited to Jacob’s bank account. Her bank account has been frozen to find out the total amount she has received,” said an officer from Vanrai police station.A 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, part of a group of 25 MBA students attending the music concert on April 11, popped ecstasy pills and died a day later. Police said they are awaiting the forensic reports to know the exact cause of death.Police have recorded statements of over 40 people, including witnesses from among the MBA students who attended the concert. On Tuesday, police summoned Sahitya’s sister for recording her statement as investigations showed another accused, Vineet Gerelani, had transferred her money while the music concert was on. Police are now looking for a major drug supplier with whom Sahitya was reportedly in touch. An individual is being questioned in this connection. MSID:: 130446305 413 |
