Mumbai: Mumbai airport has completed its annual pre-monsoon runway maintenance exercise, restoring both its runways to full operations after a six-hour shutdown window on Thursday.The airport was shut for flight movements from 11am to 5pm. The maintenance covered inspection and strengthening work on runway 09/27 and runway 14/32, along with pavement maintenance, rubber removal, electrical checks, drain cleaning and inspection of over 3,000 runway lights and associated cable networks. The technical teams also inspected runway intersections and systems linked to lighting, information technology, and navigational support to ensure uninterrupted performance during the rainy season, the airport spokesperson said..The planning for the exercise began six months in advance in coordination with airlines to minimise disruption and allow schedule realignment, the airport spokesperson said. Mumbai airport handles over 950 air traffic movements.
