Bhubaneswar: Cyber police on Saturday arrested a mule account holder, Rajendra Singh, for allegedly duping a man of Rs 9 lakh. Police said based on the complaint of Chidananda Rao Gour (69), an online credit card fraud case was registered at the cyber police station.The investigation revealed that Gour, a retired employee of Indian Bank saw an advertisement on social media in March last year about a special credit card for retired bank managers and filled in his details through a given link. Later, a cyber fraudster, posing as a credit card officer, contacted him via WhatsApp and instructed him to download a fake application called IND Smart. As soon as Gour downloaded the app on March 3 last year, Rs 9,00,034 was fraudulently withdrawn from his two bank accounts.Cyber police team found that out that Rs 5 lakh from the amount was transferred to a bank account of one Rajendra Singh. This account was being used as a mule account and complaints have been lodged in Odisha, Assam, Delhi, and Gujarat against Singh for over Rs 15 lakh fraud. Singh was produced in court.
