CHIKKAMAGALURU: A 40-foot cut-out of Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan installed in Tipu Nagar ahead of the Eid Milad procession on August 26 has triggered controversy after a video of it went viral on social media with an alleged anti-national song in the background.In the video, a song allegedly glorifying Pakistani mujahideen can be heard playing in the background. The clip has since been widely circulated.The incident falls under the limits of Chikkamagaluru Town police station.Right-wing organisations have expressed outrage over the act, alleging that a provocative, anti-national song was deliberately used. They have demanded immediate legal action against those responsible for creating and sharing the video.BJP MLC CT Ravi, calling it an open challenge to the state’s law and order, alleged that installing the cut-out and using a pro-mujahideen song for the Eid-e-Milad procession scheduled on Aug 26 was a deliberate attempt to disturb peace.“Despite anti-national provocation taking place in Chikkamagaluru, is the Congress government sleeping? Using a Mujahideen-supporting song and circulating the video on social media is an attempt to disrupt harmony. A FIR should be registered immediately and the miscreants should be arrested,” a statement from Ravi said.Targeting the home minister, he said, “The Home Minister, who spends his day blaming the RSS, should leave aside appeasement politics and focus on this.”“He should take strict action immediately,” Ravi mentioned.Police sources said they are verifying the video and the account that posted it.The police have taken up a suo motu case, said an officer.Security has been beefed up in the town to maintain law and order, he stated.
