Chennai: Nearly a year after the previous DMK govt introduced exclusive MTC buses to 25 govt and aided schools to ferry their students from different areas and drop them back tduring peak hour rush, the TVK govt is set to expand the service to another 44 schools located in the city and outskirts by launching 41 buses to benefit more such students.Transport minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban on Saturday inspected the buses that were to be flagged off on Monday. MTC officials said they prepared a detailed report on routes where such buses would be required to cater to the students after getting feedback from students, parents and teachers. Students of govt schools in Saidapet, Mannady, Avadi, Ambattur, Tiruvanmiyur, Pallavaram, Poonamallee and few other areas would benefit when the exclusive buses are launched.These buses would pick up students on a certain route and drop them inside the school campus in the morning and pick them up in the evening to drop them back at respective bus stops.MTC has already issued bus passes to schoolchildren to commute to school, but these special buses would additional services exclusively for schoolchildren.
